Hopes and Dreams

In her book, “Breaking Free” Beth Moore writes, “If your dream or desire[hope] for your grandchildren and great-grandchildren is in keeping with what you know of God’s will, then you have the endorsement and approval of Christ to begin acting on it. Cooperate with God and pray toward the fulfillment of the dream.”¹

When we pray our grandchildren will love God, serve Him, and have a burden for world missions, we can be sure we are praying according to God’s will. Such praying leads to hope both for the fulfillment of God’s purposes in their lives, and as conduits of God’s grace and hope for the world!

He has created our grandchildren for a unique purpose. Ask God to lead them to the plan He has for them step-by-step. In Psalms 20:4 it says, “May God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” Now that’s a formula for real hope!

Pray your grandchildren:

• Will discover the dreams, desires, and purposes born of hope in God.

• Be motivated to pursue it, and trust Him to provide the resources.

• God will fill them with hope and a vision of the dream God has given.

• Will be so filled with hope that they can confidently step outside their comfort zone toward their dream.

Lillian Ann Penner is a retired secretary from public high school in Bakersfield, CA. She and her husband, John, have been married 48 years and currently reside in Portland, OR.  They have three married sons and nine grandchildren.

Lillian has been active in church ministry for 45 years, and has led a "Heart to Heart" mentoring program for women, participated in a short term missions trip in Ukraine, volunteered at the Northwest Regional office of Wycliffe Translators, Jose Zayas Evangelistic Association, and Focus On the Family. Currently, she teaches a women's Bible study in her home church.
