Impress the Meaning
by
Lillian Penner, CGN National Prayer Coordinator
Love
the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
strength. These commandments that
I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress
them on your children. Talk
about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, when you lie down and
when you get up.
Deuteronomy
5:5-7
We as grandparents can impress
the true meaning of Christmas on our
grandchildren. It’s a great time to talk about the
birth of
Jesus and the reason He came to the world.
A few suggestions:
-
Pray that in the
midst of the fun filled activities of the Christmas season they will
learn the true meaning of Christmas.
-
Pray that God
will give you ideas how you can talk about the
reason Christmas is celebrated and make it meaningful to them.
-
Ask their parents
what you can do to impress the Christmas meaningful
to the little ones.
-
Give a gift that
will help them learn more about Jesus, such as Christian magazines,
books, DVD’s or etc.
-
Read the story of
Jesus’ birth from the Bible to them or have them read it to you.
-
Read stories
about the true meaning of Christmas to them.
